SouthTech Academy is a public, Title I charter school that serves students in south and central Palm Beach County (PBC). Students learn how food is grown, harvested and prepared by working in the garden on a weekly basis. They will plant edibles, monitor the garden for pests and disease, measure plant growth, record the yield of each harvest, and conduct water quality and nutrient levels tests.
The outdoor gardening activities culminate in students learning how to prepare healthy meals with the food they raised. This is essential to developing healthy, sustainable communities, particularly for our high risk students, who often do not have access to fresh, local ingredients.
