Spartanburg County Soil and Water Conservation District promotes the wise use of natural resources. One of the local projects is a partnership with the county library system to operate a Seed Library. With the availability of seeds, community members can provide their family with healthy options. Through another program, rain barrels are offered to county residents who could then also water their gardens and save money by not using city water resources.
Seed libraries provide important physical and informational resources so that members of the community can learn and practice in growing their own food.
