Our Story
We are a family-owned & operated garden seed company located in Greenwood, Missouri, that is dedicated to offering high-quality, sustainably sourced, and open-pollinated seeds. Daryl and Patty, who own and operate Sow Right Seeds, both came from families who gardened not just as a hobby, but as a way of sustaining themselves.
They started their first garden together after getting married, and Daryl often participated in seed swaps with other gardeners to obtain desirable heirloom seeds. This hobby expanded into their heirloom seed business.
Patty, a former school teacher, loves to educate and provide resources to help gardeners grow from seed successfully. she creates videos, newsletters, and blogs to share helpful gardening tips.
Together, their goal is to inspire others to grow their own food and use gardening as a way to help their communities.
Our Products
We offer heirloom, open-pollinated, non-GMO seeds to our customers. Heirloom seeds are not genetically modified, and they are not a hybrid. Many heirloom varieties have been carefully cultivated over decades and saved due to their hardiness, quality, and taste.
Open-pollinated seeds receive pollination through natural processes, such as the wind, bees, and butterflies. These plants breed true, meaning the child plant will be the same as the parents.
We source our seed from sustainable and reputable suppliers that are held to strict standards. Each variety is tested for acceptable germination before being sold and periodically after that. Our seeds are never treated with neonicotinoids or any other pesticide.
Our seeds are packed with care by a small staff here in Greenwood, Missouri. We ship seed to customers in the U.S. and Canada.
Our Seed Donation Program
Our mission is to help communities in need through gardening. Each year, Sow Right Seeds donates thousands of seed packets to charitable organizations across the U.S. and hundreds of pounds of food to local food pantries from our onsite Giving Garden in Greenwood, Missouri.
Daryl and Patty are determined to operate their business sustainably, from their solar-powered seed shop to their compost system, to natural gardening methods - including limited organic pesticides and the use of cover crops for soil improvement.
We are passionate about supporting communities in many ways, but most importantly, we want to share the joy and gratitude that comes with growing plants in your own home garden. Thank you for choosing us as your heirloom seed source!
