Summer Savory
Summer Savory
One of the main components of the famous French blend, Herbes de Provence, summer savory (Satureja hortensis) has a delicate, peppery flavor. Fresh or dried, summer savory adds a kick to beans, sausage, stews, and soups. Hardy annual grows 18" with long thin green leaves that can be harvested as needed. Seed packet contains 1 G (about 1800 seeds).
The leaves can be used to season beans, sausages, vegetables, stuffings, soups and stews. And along with a few other herbs from your garden, you can make your very own homemade Herbs de Provence. Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors.
Sow outdoors after all danger of frost or start indoors 3-4 earlier. Light is required for germination. Water seeds and young seedlings evenly. Harden off seedlings and transplant to well-drained, moderately rich soil with shelter from strong winds.
