Just Foods - Both a food bank and food pantry located in Lawrence, KS. They serve around 20,000 unique individuals a year through a variety of programs. Their two community gardens are used for education and production for our food pantry, and one garden also has 16 plots given to shoppers of the food pantry to grow whatever they'd like.
Topeka, KS
Topeka Common Ground, Inc. - provides support to approximately 25 Community Garden groups in the area through education and donation of free seeds and vegetable seedlings. Many of the garden groups donate surplus produce from their gardens to local food pantries. Some of the gardens are located in low-income neighborhoods, and foster self-sufficiency by providing community residents with the opportunity to grow their own foods.
Wichita, KS
Ability Point - serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 5+. They have a variety of programs including but not limited to: Mini Tours, YESS, Camp Ability, Small Steps: A Healthy Lifestyle Initiative, Tier 0 programming, and a community garden that is dedicated to teaching individuals how to grow and harvest their own food should they want to.
