Lovage (Levisticum officinale) is being rediscovered in the United States as an easy to grow, nutritious, and tasty vegetable. The plant produces yellow flowers, seeds and leaves that are used in cooking and has a delicious celery-like flavor. Makes a tasty addition to soups, stews, salads and more! Seed packet contains 1 G (about 400 seeds).

This herb has many benefits. Take time to choose a perfect spot for lovage plants, as they are long-lived and reach to an impressive 5-6’. Lovage is a hardy perennial that grows fast and produces abundant foliage all summer long.  Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors.

Direct sow outside in fall or late spring, or sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date. Maintain a steady soil temperature of 60°. Water seedlings when almost dry, taking care not to wet leaves. Once established, harden off and transplant outside. Cultivate soil deeply to accommodate the long taproot.
