Austrian Winter Peas (Pisum sativum) are an ideal winter cover crop, withstanding dips in temperatures to 10° F. This rapid growing legume nourishes your soil by fixing nitrogen and adding organic matter. If planted early enough in the fall, pea pods will appear which make for a delicious late-fall-garden snack. Seed packet contains 17 G (about 200 seeds).

Winter-hardy and drought-tolerant cover crops can help cover the soil of your home garden beds during the off season. We've included enough seed in one packet to cover an 8' x 4' garden bed. Improving soil health through cover crop planting is an easy and low cost way of maintaining your garden from year to year. Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors

This packet contains enough seed to plant a 8' x 4' bed. From late summer to early fall, broadcast evenly over prepared soil and poke the seeds into the soil 1 1/2" deep (a fun task for young children to help with). Water well, especially through dry spells. Till under after flowering for maximum nitrogen or wait until spring to keep soils covered through winter.
