Allsweet watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) has thick green striped rinds that protect its juicy, crisp red flesh. Produces relatively few seeds. They average 17"-19" and weigh 25 pounds or more, so there's plenty to share! Seed packet contains 2 G (about 49 seeds).

Sow directly into soil that's at least 70°F. For a head start in cooler climates, start indoors 2-4 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Do not disturb tender roots when transplanting. Thin to 2-3 plants per hill. Keep soil moist but well-drained. Allow plenty of room for vines to spread.
