Killingly Community Garden - is located within walking distance of several neighborhoods, in an urban setting. It is beside a recreational field, accessible to many community members. The garden began in the winter of 2013 with help from a group of volunteers, the Killingly Agriculture Commission, town employees and the Northeast District Department of Health. Dedicated volunteers and committee members have provided raised beds, and helped utilize space to grow produce for donations to the Friends of Assisi Food Pantry in Danielson, CT. This community garden uses sustainable and eco-friendly practices and is dedicated to helping combat food insecurity and teaching community members how just about anyone can grow their own produce.
Enfield, CT
Asnuntuck Community College - mission is to offer quality education in an accessible, affordable, and nurturing environment. The ACC Community Garden, located on the campus of Asnuntuck Community College (ACC) provides organic produce to The Pantry (located on the campus), a no-cost food resource for students, staff and the local Enfield community. Student groups are involved on a volunteer basis, working through the ACC Garden Club, community service hours, and, where relevant, their academic course work. There is a focus on sustainable growing practices (from seed to harvest), community outreach, and charitable giving.
