Kings Mountain, NC

Kings Mountain Historical Museum - is located in the heart of the historic City of Kings Mountain, North Carolina. They collect, preserve, and interpret original historical resources that help foster a deeper understanding of the unique history and cultural identity of Kings Mountain and the surrounding area. A recent Eagle Scout Project was completed with a fenced in garden and raised beds, where they are growing their educational mid-19th century garden. 

 

Mount Airy, NC

Twin Arcs Farm - is a standalone blend of agricultural antiquity and new-fashioned farming techniques. Their Food Forest Gardening Program is a working farm operation that affords the local community the opportunity to be educated, gain experience, and be inspired to learn what it takes to be cultivate an active food forest. Seed varieties will be used for supplemental food and bee forage. This program builds food forestry knowledge and experience needed to maintain a prolific food forest and farm on rented land. This innovative solution embraces a holistic, ecologically sound approach to growing food, inspiring a new generation of farmers, and benefiting the local community with fresh, healthy food. 

Ocracoke, NC

 

The Bread of Life Food Pantry -Serves the needy, ill, infants, and elderly of Ocracoke Island. Bread of Life aims to prioritize the nutritional value of our staple food items to keep our families full. They believe that there is a moral imperative to support the community, so they have decided to start a garden in which they can grow our own fruits, vegetables and herbs for our community.

 

Raleigh, NC

Planet Peace Affiliates - is dedicated to helping youth reduce stress while cultivating confidence and compassion. They accomplish this by providing life-changing experiences with farm animals and activities. Programs instill a sense of purpose, responsibility, community, and recognition while introducing youth to the virtues and actions that lead to peace. They have a large community garden (approx. 1/2 acre) that provides a safe space for youth to help plant and harvest. They educate youth and their families on sustainable gardening practices, and participate in the Plant-a-Row for the Hungry program.
