Ohio Charitable Organizations
Charitable Organizations in Ohio to connect with and donate fresh garden produce and saved seeds:
Indigenous Women's Association - takes pride in providing the community with resources to help develop themselves in the highest aspect possible. Their mission is to teach the world emotional intelligence, where people will operate in a state of angular acceleration for all minds! The vision drives their mission: to create a world where people realize their full potential, and operate from the highest aspects of themselves not only physically, emotionally and spiritually. Their Promyseland Gardening Project teaches local inner city children how to grow gardens and basic landscaping techniques. These are basic survival tools for the necessity of earth, for communities, and also in doing to spark the minds of the next generation of landscapers and gardeners.
Arcanum Public Library - serves many purposes. Besides having materials available for patrons, they offer workshops and programs at little or no cost, as well as a popular seed library. Seed libraries provide important physical and informational resources so that members of the community can learn and practice in growing their own food.
The Linden Market - is a free food market located in Columbus, Ohio. Their goal is to build a healthy community by increasing access to fresh food and engaging people in healthy living activities. They provide free, fresh produce for any household that earns up to 200% of the Federal Poverty guidelines. Anyone who qualifies is able to come shop once a day, every day that they are open. Their produce comes from the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, so they are able to provide a variety of fresh food options. They also have regular health/wellness classes and events, which are also free and open to all.
The Urban Mission Backyard Food Garden Center - aims to create a physical hub for models, materials, mentors, and manpower to help grow gardens in the windowsills, backyards, and empty lots of Steubenville, OH and beyond! They achieve this through a downtown garden center, acting as physical hub for the work of food security and sovereignty in the city. The goal is to help backyarders overcome any perceived boundaries to gardening, harvesting, preparing, and storing food on urban land! The garden center is also the backyard for the backyardless, such as those who live in apartments, rent, or simply don't have the space to garden. We believe that these things combined will fight hunger by empowering the community to grow and appreciate their own food.
