Chinese Forget-Me-Not (Cynoglossum amabile) is a tall, bushy annual with stunning true-blue flowers. This easy-to-grow flower blooms just weeks after planting, loves sunny spots, and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden. It also makes for a gorgeous addition to cut flower arrangements. Start forget me not seeds indoors for early blooms.
Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost. Make sure seeds are fully covered; darkness is necessarily for germination. Transplant outside into garden after last frost. Self-sower: remove plants or cut back to prevent volunteers next season.

Chinese forget-me-not isn’t considered an invasive plant like true forget-me-not. But it does self-seed. The Chinese forget-me-not will bloom the first year it is planted, unlike Myosotis sylvatica. Both are in the Boraginaceae family.
In temperate climates where it doesn’t freeze, Chinese forget-me-not can be grown as a biannual. But after a freeze, it will not grow back.
Chinese forget-me-nots can be grown in containers. Keep the soil moist but not overly saturated. Choose a location that gets 2 to 6 hours of sunlight.
Clip off the flower once they dry and turn brown. When the seed heads turn brown, they are ready to harvest. Separate the seeds from the pods and allow them to dry. Once they are fully dry, store them in a cool, dark location to plant again another season.
