Emerald Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) is a reliable and flavorful variety known for its incredibly tender and spineless pods. The dark-green velvety pods retains their lovely color even when cooked or canned. Thrives in the summer heat and produces abundantly with regular picking. Seed packet contains 3 G (about 60 seeds).

Okra is delicious for eating by itself fried or oven roasted. But it's a critical ingredient for cajun dishes like gumbo or jambalaya; and many Indian foods. This fast growing vegetable will amaze your children as they watch it grow taller and taller up to 8 feet. Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors.

Soak overnight or scarify seeds by nicking the hard seed coat to improve germination. Start indoors 3-4 weeks before setting out to transplant. Take care not to disturb roots. Or, for direct seeding, sow outside after soil has warmed to 70°.

Days to germination: 7-15
Planting depth: 3/4"
Plant Spacing: 12"
Soil Temperature: 70-80°F
Light Requirements: Full Sun

Very quick germination

My order came real quick. I planted most of them outside in my garden. Each one or two seeds were planted about 3/4” deep, an I watered them three times a day with my garden hose with an adjustable nozzle.
Most of them started sprouting on 3rd day, and all were out in five days! Other are about 4” tall. Just anxious to see them grow taller, and start showing some real okras! May be I will add another update down the road.
I am very happy with my support from sow right seeds.
