Purple Ruffles Basil
Purple Ruffles Basil
This dual-purpose basil is used both culinarily and ornamentally. Its beautiful deep purple leaves have a fringy edge and wrinkly texture. Delivers a strong sweet-basil flavor with notes of anise and cinnamon. Its pale pink flower contrast nicely with the dark leaves, making it a unique and lovely filler in flower bouquets. AAS winner. Minimum of 400 mg per packet (about 300 seeds).
Growing basil can be a versatile addition to the herb garden indoors or outdoors. Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors.
May be grown indoors or outside but must have plenty of light. If growing outdoors, start seed indoors and transplant outside after all danger of frost is passed. Begin taking small harvests when the plant has 6 to 8 pairs of leaves. Harvest early and pinch off flower buds to encourage growth and extend harvest. Succession plantings may be necessary to have fresh basil all growing season.
