Winter Rye (Secale cereale) is an extremely hardy winter crop that adds organic matter to the soil and prevents erosion. Usually survives winter and continues to protect soil into spring. Seed packet contains 14 G (about 500 seeds).

Winter-hardy and drought-tolerant cover crops can help cover the soil of your home garden beds during the off season. We've included enough seed in one packet to cover an 8' x 4' garden bed. Improving soil health through cover crop planting is an easy and low cost way of maintaining your garden from year to year. Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors

This packet contains enough seed to plant an 8' x 4' bed. Early spring or early fall, broadcast seeds evenly. Rake 1" deep into soil. For green manure, mow down or till and fully incorporate into soil at least a month before sowing new crops. To harvest grains and berries, harvest after seeds have fully dried.

A Good Start - Winter Rye for Smaller Home Garden

Sow Right Seeds online order, fulfillment and delivery were all seamless. Congrats! You have a nice niche and appear to operate a well-run business. Due to the small plot, I ordered 12 single packs. They were just enough. Some extra would have been better, yet at $45 delivered, what I did order was more cost than I wanted to spend. The seed supplier I used in the past dropped their seed product line. They were a very cost effective source and were local.
