Single blooms give this mix of dahlias (Dahlia variabilis) a daisy-like appearance. Watch these annual flowers grow and bloom in shades of white, yellow, salmon, rose, red, and purple. This dwarf variety only grows 10-16 inches tall. A great choice for containers, or also looks lovely in flowerbeds and along borders.
Seed packet contains 750 MG (about 100 seeds). Start dahlia seeds indoors for early blooms - Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors
Start indoors or sow directly outdoors after danger of frost. If starting indoors, use peat pots so that the entire container can be transplanted to avoid shocking delicate roots. Keep evenly moist until germination. Plant in soil that's loose, well-draining, and fertile. Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage an extended bloom season.
Days to germination: 7-10
Planting depth: 1/4"
Plant Spacing: 12"
Soil Temperature: 60°F
Light Requirements: Full Sun
The pollinators love this flower. Easy to grow. Planted mine in a spot with a little too much shade but they still thrived. I have mine paired up with Zinnias and I am happy with it.
I also have several varieties of Dahlia planted from tubers; these dwarf ones from seed are a little less fussy and don’t require support or stakes.
Will be planting more next season!
