Black Eyed Cow Pea (Vigna unguiculata) are the most well-known and popular of the cowpeas. This variety is said to bring luck when eaten on New Year's Day. These useful legumes have deep roots that fix nitrogen to the soil and help the plants survive heat and drought. Versatile enough to harvest at any stage. Standard seed packet contains 13 g (about 60 seeds). Jumbo packet contains 2 oz (about 225 seeds).

Excellent cover crop and food source for a variety of animals such as deer, cattle, rabbits and chickens. Harvest plenty and enjoy the delicious flavor fresh, frozen, or canned. Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors.

Sow directly outside 1-2 weeks after last frost, when soil has warmed to 65° or more. Plant in sunny location with well-draining soil, spacing seeds out 2-4" apart.
