Frequently Asked Questions

While french green beans are similar to regular green beans, there are a few differences. French green beans are longer, thinner and more tender than their counterparts. They also have a subtle earthy flavor compared to the sweeter taste of regular green beans.

French green beans do not need a trellis to grow.
Bush beans grow close to the ground in smaller compact spaces. These bushy plants are perfect for growing in raised beds or containers. They produce beans closer together and near ground.

Unlike pole bean varieties, bush beans produce most of their crop all at once.
Bush bean plants mature quickly, in about 50 days. Check regularly for ripe beans and harvest them frequently to help facilitate more growth. With proper care, your plant may yield a few smaller harvests, but it won’t continuously produce throughout the season.

Leave the bean pods on your plant until the beans rattle inside the pod. Separate the pods from the beans inside. Let the beans dry in a cool environment, and store them to plant again next season.
