Cowpeas are a multipurpose bean variety. These legumes are delicious fresh, frozen or canned. They can be sauteed with other vegetables, added to casseroles, or eaten raw. In addition to being a great source of protein, this variety doubles as a cover crop. The deep root system fixes nitrogen into the soil and can also be a good food source for livestock animals like cattle, rabbits, and chickens. This drought and heat-tolerant variety are a great low-maintenance option for any vegetable garden.

This variety can grow on either bush or vining plants. They thrive well in full sun, and many varieties are versatile enough to be harvested at any stage.

If you want the most benefits from just one plant, add Cowpeas to your outdoor space!
