This variety of Lavender is a heat-tolerant English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). This compact, fragrant perennial produces a profusion of light purple-blue flowers and can grow from 1 to 2 feet tall. It is a good choice for borders and rock gardens, and will attract bees and butterflies to your garden.
Seed packet contains 200mg (about 230 seeds). Start Lavender seeds indoors for early blooms - Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors.
Lavender is naturally slow to germinate. Improve the odds by cold stratifying the seed. Sprinkle seed onto a wet paper towel, fold the towel, and place it in a plastic bag. Put the bag in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 weeks. After that, sow the seed, just barely covering with soil. Provide plenty of light and warmth, and ensure the soil stays moist. Transplant outdoors 4 to 6 weeks after sprouts appear and when all danger of frost is passed.
