Common Chives (Allium schoenoprasum) is a hardy perennial with hollow, grass-like leaves that have a mild onion flavor. Grows well in pots and indoors so that you can always have fresh chives on hand. Seed packet contains 300 MG (about 450 seeds).

This herb is super easy to grow and has many benefits. Use these chives to add a mild and subtle onion flavor to your favorite dishes. You can garnish your baked potatoes, pizza, salads, and so much more - even the blossoms of the chive plant are tasty! Large, premium seed packets give instructions on how to grow and when to plant outdoors.

Seed can be sown as soon as ground warms. Prefers a rich soil. Harvest can begin after 4 weeks but leave plenty for regrowth. Both flowers and leaves are edible. Divide clumps every third year. Remove seed head to prevent self-sown seeds from spreading.

Days to germination: 7 to 15
Planting depth: 1/4"
Plant Spacing: 6"
Soil Temperature: 65-70 F
Light Requirements: Part shade
